Newer than New
The IRD is changing their systems to a new platform. The first change will take affect in February 2017 and will concern GST – Goods and Services Tax. Apart from on-going little tweaks there are no major legislative changes to the GST as a Tax Type.
However, the way we report to the IRD and the IRD reports back to tax payers is changing. This includes Tax Payments and Tax Refunds.
The IRD would like to reduce processing time and reduce paper usage. This is a great idea, as long as the transformation is smooth and respectful to people who are still very happy to run their business in the way they did for the past 10 to 20 years.
The world seems to target younger generations that do not mind the fast pace of ever changing digital environment, but if you are over 35 years of age, you are probably not so excited about going ALL Digital. The Inland Revenue Department need to remember that the core business men, hence tax payers need some transformation time. Tax payers are massive contributors to the country’s financial stability and need looking after.
